Brand Guidelines

The AETC 2027 Brand.

How to present the Africa Energy Technology Conference 2027: its logo, colours, typefaces, patterns and voice. For partners, sponsors, the media and anybody designing on the conference's behalf.

Our Name

Say It the Same Way Every Time.

The name is the brand before any logo is seen. Write it in full the first time it appears, then use the short name.

Full Name
Africa Energy Technology Conference 2027
Short Name
AETC 2027, always with the year, after the full name has been used once.
The Edition
The fourth edition, 18–20 May 2027, Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra.
The Theme
Engineering Sovereignty: Scaling and Commercializing Indigenous Technologies for Africa’s Unified Energy Economy. Quoted exactly, with its own spelling of “Commercializing”.
Our Host
Hosted by the Africa Energy Technology Centre. Beside the conference, name the Centre in full, so the two are never taken for each other.
Hashtags
Taglines
“The Future of Energy is African” and “Network. Invest. Cut Deals.”. Written as printed; the first appears as its own lettering, never retyped.

Space and Size

Room to Breathe, Large Enough to Read.

Keep a clear space around the logo that nothing else enters, and never set it smaller than the sizes below, where the wordmark stops being legible.

The logo with its clear space
x is a quarter of the logo’s height, on every side.
The logo
At least 140 px wide on screen, 35 mm wide in print.
The mark alone
At least 32 px on screen, 10 mm in print.
  • Do: Scale the logo from its corner, so its proportions never change.
  • Do: Give it more room than the minimum wherever the layout allows.
  • Do not: Let text, edges or other logos into its clear space.

What to Avoid

The Logo Is Never Redrawn.

Each of these changes the brand, and none is allowed. When a layout seems to need one, write to the team instead.

Do not stretch or squash it.
Do not change its colours.
Do not rotate or tilt it.
Do not add shadows, glows or outlines.
Do not set the colour logo on navy or a busy photograph.
Africa Energy Technology Conference 2027
Do not retype the name beside the mark.

Colour

The Signature Gradient

Sand into teal into navy, left to right: the hairline under the top bar, a speaker's profile header and the reading bar on a news story.

The Duotone Gradient

Deep navy into teal, corner to corner: over photographs in page headers, so words stay readable on them, and the fill of the one button a page leads with.

In Proportion

White and light ink, 60%Navy, 25%TealSand, 5%

A page is mostly white, carried by navy, with teal for what can be acted on and sand as the accent. The spectrum inside the mark belongs to the mark alone; it is not a palette. The ink the page is set in is (17, 22, 43).

Typography

Manrope, and Titillium Web for Labels.

Two typefaces, both free to use from Google Fonts. Manrope sets headings and reading text; Titillium Web sets the small capitals that label things.

Set a weight heavier than its name suggests: Manrope’s strokes are finer than most, so the website draws its regular at 480, medium at 600, semibold at 700 and bold at 800.

Fourth edition · 18–20 May 2027

Labels, Eyebrows and Figures

Graphic Elements

Adinkra Patterns, the Emblem and the Leaf.

The brand's shapes come from its own artwork: four Adinkra-derived motifs, the circular emblem, the gradient bar and one strongly rounded corner.

The Spiral
The Square
The Lattice
The Comb
The motifs in a band, as a divider, and as a field behind navy grounds at a whisper of opacity. Always in sand, never in the spectrum of the mark.
The circular emblem, drawn in the brand gradient, behind heroes and page headers.

Why Africa. Why Now.

The section bar, which names a section.

The leaf: one corner strongly rounded, on cards, photographs and tiles.

Photography

Real People, Real Rooms.

Photographs show the conference as it happens: delegates in conversation, speakers on stage, the exhibition floor, the Gala. Warm light, genuine moments, Africa's energy leaders at work.

A packed AETC 2026 hall under warm coffered lights and blue stage lighting listens to Hon. Kerryne James, Minister for Climate Resilience, the Environment, and Renewable Energy, Grenada, named on the stage screen.
The plenary hall, full.
At the Bui Power Authority exhibition booth, an exhibitor in a blue and orange dress talks with delegates, one reading a brochure, beneath banners about floating solar.

The Gala Dinner and Awards Night.
  • Do: Crop the AETC 2026 watermark out of a 2026 photograph used to promote 2027.
  • Do: Credit the photographer where the library names one.
  • Do: Keep the photograph’s subject in frame: crop around faces, never through them.
  • Do not: Use a photograph of a child without the written consent of a parent or guardian.
  • Do not: Recolour a photograph beyond the navy duotone the website lays over its headers.
  • Do not: Crop a flyer or a poster: show it whole, so its words stay.

Voice and Writing

Confident, Precise and African-Led.

The conference speaks as the continent's meeting place for energy: plainly, with facts it can source, and without hype.

With Partners

Our Host, Our Partners and Our Sponsors.

The conference appears beside other organisations often. Each keeps its own identity, and ours stays whole.

The “Hosted by” mark, in white, wherever the host is credited.
The Future of Energy is African
The tagline, as its own lettering, on navy.
  • Do: Show the conference’s official partners with the seals they supplied and the titles they hold: Ministry of Energy and Green Transition (Official Governmental Partner); African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (Official Institutional Partner); The Presidency, Republic of Ghana (Endorsed by The Presidency).

  • Do not: Recolour, crop or restyle another organisation’s logo to match ours.
